Understand yourself. Teach with more room.
The student who irritates you most can show you something about your own reactions. Notice your patterns, choose a different response, and teach useful skills without ever labeling a student.
Self-serve downloads. Your own pace. Students never take a type assessment.

Built on author Sarah Dutton Waxman’s adult-first thesis: understand yourself first so you can understand your students. Meet Sarah and explore her book.

Your need for fairness, connection, achievement, quiet, or certainty can shape how a classroom moment lands. The guide helps you see the lens you bring to grading, discipline, and conflict.
Each adult-pattern chapter includes practical adjustments and a stress signature to watch for. You reflect on yourself; you do not categorize the students around you.
Read a real teacher-pattern excerptA skill, never a category.
We never assess, number, or label students. We do not ask teachers to infer a student’s personality type.
Read the policy and its reasons.Nine skills every student can practice.
Every lesson is type-agnostic. It never names an adult pattern or type to a student. The titles below are the skills themselves.
- Mistakes Are Data
- Needs and Boundaries
- Worth Beyond Wins
- Feelings Have Names
- Curiosity Is a Superpower
- Anxiety and Safety
- Boredom and Joy
- Strong and Kind
- Speaking Up
Each lesson includes an objective, materials, a 20-minute plan, elementary and secondary adaptations, and a short fallback. Read two full lesson previews.
A guide you can use on your own.
Start with your own pattern. Try one of the classroom adjustments. Teach a skill in ordinary language, with no assessment or labels for students.
This is educational self-reflection, not a clinical assessment or a scientifically validated personality measure. Hook et al. (2021), Journal of Clinical Psychology, found “mixed evidence of reliability and validity.”

Do students take an Enneagram test?
No. Adults reflect on their own patterns. Students practice ordinary skills such as naming needs and learning from mistakes.
Do I need to attend training?
No. These are standalone downloads. We do not deliver sessions, webinars, or coaching. School staff can use the facilitator materials on their own.
Is this a clinical or validated instrument?
No. The research record is mixed. Use the framework as a mirror for yourself, not as a diagnosis or a basis for decisions about students.
